Dr. Mason directs the firm’s quantitative research efforts, including assisting with investment due diligence, collecting data to describe the Partnership’s portfolio, and monitoring collateral performance.
Dr. Mason was among the first statisticians to make independent credit models for LendingClub and Prosper loans widely-available to investors, establishing himself as an early thought leader in marketplace lending. He advised on one of the first portfolios of marketplace loans that was owned by a nationally chartered bank, pioneering loan selection and performance modeling methodologies. He also worked to create an underwriting model for a new lending platform that has been used to originate more than $100 million dollars of consumer loans.
Prior to his work in finance, Dr. Mason worked in higher education as the administrator responsible for data analysis in support of several types of campus decision making. He served most recently as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Institutional Research at UC Riverside, and before that as Director of Institutional Research at Loyola Marymount University. Dr. Mason is the former President of the California Association for Institutional Research, a professional organization.
Dr. Mason graduated summa cum laude from the University of California at Riverside with a B.S. in Mathematics and earned a PhD in Policy Analysis from RAND Graduate School.
